The State of Alaska is seeking experienced and adventurous BSN prepared Public Health Nurses to serve as team leaders in our public health centers or for our itinerant nursing staff who travel to rural and remote Alaskan communities and are based out of our larger heath centers.
Public Health Nurses are the feet on the ground promoting and protecting the health and wellness of Alaskaâs communities. Our ideal candidates are flexible, independent and critical thinkers, team players, good communicators and are enthusiastic about providing high quality population-based public health services determined by ongoing community health assessments and statewide priorities.
The 2013 public health priorities for the State of Alaska Division of Public Health are improving immunization rates, responding to the nationwide obesity problem, screening for and educating communities and individuals about domestic violence, and reducing infectious diseases. Nursing has a statewide strategic plan and need skillful public health nurses to get the work done!

Job Requirements
Education, training, experience:
All State of Alaska Public Health Nurses must have at least a BSN degree, be licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Alaska (or eligible for licensure), and at the PHN III level, have two years of professional public health nursing experience in a public health organization (tribal, county, city or state)
