The RN Nursing Instructor is responsible for providing current and pertinent instruction in nursing subject matter that will lead to the development and/or enhancement of a nursing career and professional skills in students. The RN Nursing Instructor is responsible for delivering content according to approved course syllabus. This position! reports to the Director of Nursing and/or the Program Directo! r in related field. This is a part-time (adjunct) position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs as a Campus/Campus Support professional in creating and delivering extraordinary and personal student experiences.
Model the Company's cultural values on a daily basis.
Educate students by developing skills in those areas in which the instructor is qualified to teach according to approved course syllabus.
Prepare and submit a weekly lesson plan to accomplish the course objectives in accordance with the objectives listed on the syllabus.
Maintain current knowledge of the business world/healthcare system through continuing education units, outside seminars, in-service activities, membership in professional organizations, and reading of current professional periodicals; incorporate this knowledge into the student education process.
Complete assigned independent study modules of the faculty development program.
Encourage students to seek the! instructor's help and work willingly and tactfully with those students experiencing difficulty in mastery of subjects taught.
Recognize differences in learning ability in individual students and assist in developing techniques to help them reach their potential.
Relate to students in a fair, courteous, and professional manner. Encourage students to possess a professional attitude, physically and mentally.
Use appropriate simulation or skills testing programs to demonstrate to both the student and instructor the progress being made. Maintain consistency in grading and evaluation procedures.
Assist in the evaluation of simulation/subjects taught to include the revision of course outlines, selection of textbooks and other teaching aids, and development of curricula as needed.
Make use of approved textbooks and augment the material with pertinent examples and exercises that have practical applications.
Maintain student retention expectations as outlined! by supervisor.
Complete reports as required by Program Director in! an accurate and timely manner.
Submit supplies and equipment requests to the appropriate Program Director in a timely fashion.
Ensure that students and staff use supplies and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Attend instructor meetings as required.
Attend graduation ceremonies and other related school functions.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Master's Degree in Nursing or Health Care Field Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required
Teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of Alaska Nursing Law/Board regulations strongly desired
Part-Time - Non-Exempt
Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge and education level
