permanent, full-time, night Nurse I/II.

The schedule for this position is 11:00 P.M.-7:00 A.M. Saturday thru Wednesday w! ith Thursday & Friday off. The primary responsibility of this position is Medicare documentation. The incumbent will work with elderly residents that not only experience physical limitations but also have varying rates of confusion/dementia. The Nurse will provide behavior interventions with confused residents when warranted.

The incumbent will perform the following duties:
Provide medication administration and observation of any reactions
Supervise Certified Nurse Aides in their administration of medications to residents
Interact with residents and families to discuss medical and other issues
Assist in the development of assisted living care plans for residents
Determine the need for and coordinate referral for medical and dental care
Contact physicians on an as-needed basis and perform
Related work as assigned Desired strengths that are essential to this position:
Able to work as a team member and the ability to get along wi! th peers, family members and residents in the facility.
Ab! le to function independently and handle crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
Excellent work habits such as punctuality, attendance and observation of safety regulations.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work some weekends and holidays. This facility is an Eden Alternative facility, meaning that the selected candidate may have contact with birds, cats and dogs in a home-like setting.

This position requires a criminal background check including fingerprinting.

Minimum Qualifications:
NURSE I
Graduation from a school of nursing, accredited by the National League for Nursing or license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
Special Requirements: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska is required.
Note: For positions in this job class a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
NURSE II
Graduation from a sch! ool of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing or license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
One year of entry level professional nursing. This experience is equivalent to Nurse I with the State of Alaska.
Other combinations of training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability; however, there is no substitution for the required training.
Special Requirements: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska is required.
Some positions are located in institutions providing care for psychiatric or developmentally disabled individuals and require one year experience in these specialized fields.
Note: For positions in this job class a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
