This position is a customer service oriented position.
Solves
customer problems, treats customer with dignity and respect. Acknowledges customer and responds quickly to customer needs.
All patients, nursing unit staff, visitors, volunteers and co-workers will be given prompt and courteous attention.
Telephone courtesy and patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
When completing telephone calls or patient visitation, refer to written scripts for appropriate greeting and content.
Answer questions within your scope of practice and refer other questions to the appropriate person.
Deliver and pick up trays from patient’s room.
Capable of communicating effectively with patient and hospital staff.
Essential Duties:
Process Room Service customer orders, including patient/family initiated orders & those needing assistance .
Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. work area.
Deliver and/or pick-up trays or snacks.
Delivery of trays to patient room, tray line, prepare food items, cleaning, detail cleaning.
Assists cooks and others as needed.
Coordinates personal duties as required by the overall food service operations.
Delivers and sets up all local catering services as requested on an order complete with beverages, plates, napkins, appropriate utensils, etc.
Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
Capable of recognizing a nutritionally balanced meal.
Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in a an organized and orderly manner.
Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
Other related duties may also be assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
At least one year of work experience or training which demonstrates suitability for and knowledge of what is required in this type of work.
Must be able to pass a Pre-employment drug test, physical assessment and criminal background check.
Background position ranking skill levels:
Language skills sufficient to: 1. Read a limited number of 2 to 3 syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words or a series of numbers. 2. Effectively communicate with other employees.
Math skills sufficient to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide including using these operations with weight measurement, or volume.
Reasoning abilities sufficient to: 1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple 1 or 2 step instructions with only occasional or no variables. 2. Work effectively with other employees and supervisors.
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific close vision is required. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold non-weather and to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the physical stamina to stand and wash hundreds of items at a time. Must have the stamina to work on 8 to 12 hour shifts for extended periods of time
