The RN Educator functions in a specialized area of nursing in the role of consultant, educator, practitioner, and possibly researcher. The goal is also to provide educational mechanism! s to help the nursing staff deliver the highest quality of patient care from the Neonate to the Elderly. The RN Educator will coordinate, develop, provide, and evaluate ongoing professional education opportunities by working in conjunction with the Continuing Ed Committee, specialized unit educators, the RN Residency Manager, the Nursing Management team, and the Quality Management team. The RN Educator will assure that the educational opportunities fulfill the needs of staff and requirements of regulators by previewing and developing courses with the Director.
The Med- Surg RN Educator is responsible for the Education and Competencies for Med-Onc; Ortho; Rehab; â€" may also work with PCU or in conjunction with Critical Care and Peri- Op educators . This educator primarily works directly on the units orienting and following each staff to ensure the highest level of competency; also monitors documentation for accuracy; validates skills; performs Mock codes and BLS sk! ills; evaluates and tracks staff training and competencies in ! HealthStream ; and develops
education and training as appropriate for the specific unit; routinely researches new courses and training programs and collaborates with Clinical Supervisor and Unit director, to prioritize and identify current and future needs, particularly the specialty components of Ortho, Rehab and Oncology; and acts as a clinical Med-Surg Resource for staff.

LICENSE REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse â€" State of
Alaska
CERTIFICATIONS:
BLS
EDUCATION:
4 year/Bachelor Degree
EXPERIENCE:
5 years diverse clinical exp.
Demonstrated teaching skills in Nursing (3yrs preferred)
