Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
at Providence Alas! ka Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
Work in a challenging environment providing critical care in the childrenâs hospital. Training expected to last 1 year with an additional commitment of 2 more years in the Maternity Center.
In this position, you will
:
Plan, direct, and provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit using the team approach.
Delegate aspects of patient care consistent with team members level of preparation.
Coordinate care planning with other disciplines and team members.
Serve as the point of contact for patient information.
Develop plans to reflect the identified needs as well as expected outcomes obtained from the patient assessment.
Attend and participate in all scheduled didactic education and professional development conferences related to their selected track of the internship.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Must be a! graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska at time of hire.
Must have graduated from a School of Nursing and possess less than 6 months acute care experience, or less than 2 years of non-hospital nursing experience.
Schedule varies to meet department needs.
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, and work with a variety of health unit teams.

About the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The NICU is the only level III NICU in the state of Alaska. The NICU has a bed capacity of 42 with an average length of stay of 24 days. Significant subgroups include premature infants < 37 weeks gestation, newborns with respiratory compromise, congenital anomalies and medical complications. Care in the NICU incorporates an interdisciplinary team collaboration to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
