Description: Workplace Alaska is currently interviewing Certified Nurse Aide I (PCN 02-7170) right now, this job will be placed in Alaska. For detail informations about this job opportunity kindly read the description below. The Ketchikan Pioneers Home is recruiting for a part time Certified Nurse Aide I position.

The schedule is Friday through Monday 7am -3pm with Tuesday through Thurs! day off.

The incumbent will work with elderly residents that not only experience physical limitations, but also have varying rates of confusion/dementia. The Certified Nurse Aide I will provide interventions with confused residents when warranted.

The incumbent performs routine aide duties such as monitoring proper hydration and body functions including taking blood pressure, pulse and temperature, and taking and recording height and weight. The Certified Nurse Aide I will administer medications under the direction of a licensed nurse.

The Certified Nurse Aide I will assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) by encouraging residents to be self-reliant, assisting residents to and from dining room, and providing reminders and queuing to meals, etc. This position will be responsible for replenishing resident supplies on a weekly basis.

The Certified Nurse Aide I is responsible for recognizing and reporting any significant changes in phy! sical, mental and emotional well-being, and any unusual signs ! and symptoms of common diseases and conditions. The incumbent maintains a clean and orderly environment, assists residents to social and recreational activities, promotes good mental health of residents, and participates in in-services and training sessions. The incumbent performs other duties as assigned.

Able to work as a team member and the ability to get along with peers, family members and residents in the facility.
Able to function independently and handle crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
Excellent work habits such as punctuality, attendance and observation of safety regulations.
Experience working with geriatric patients who have Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work varied shifts, and some weekends and holidays. This facility is an Eden Alternative facility. The selected candidate may have contact with birds, cats, and! dogs in a home-like setting.

Minimum Qualifications:
A current Nurse Aide certification issued by the State of Alaska.

Special Note:
A criminal background investigation including fingerprinting is required. Individuals convicted of a barrier crime under Alaska Statute 47.33 and Nurse Aides listed on the State of Alaska’s Abuse Registry will not be eligible for employment.

Positions require certification as a Nurse Aide in the State of Alaska. A person eligible for certification may apply for a position but may not be appointed until an Alaska certification is obtained.

Successful candidates will be required to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually.
