DUTIES:
This position is located at the Alaska VA Healthcare System, Social and Behavioral Health Service, Anchorage, Alaska. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments.

Treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment.

Consult with facility staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.

Supervise interdisciplinary staff and trainees.

Provide clinical leadership in treatment planning meetings, clinical staff meetings, client staffings, etc.

Administer a variety of group and individual behavioral and self-repor! t assessments.

Conduct interviews, use rating scales, question! naires or other measurement devices, or observe the client to assess emotional, functional or psychological condition.

Assist in developing new assessment or measurement devices.

Plan appropriate clinical treatment for individual clients.

Conceptualize, develop and present detailed treatment plans for full range of psychological services for clients.

Serve as key member of the interdisciplinary team providing the full range of behavior therapy and other psychological therapies for a widely diverse client base.

Use a variety of clinical modalities [e.g., Behavior Therapy, Behavior Modification, (Behavioral Rehearsal, relaxation training, assertiveness training, systematic sensitization, etc.), Cognitive Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing].

Monitor client's progress.

Provide advice to other staff professionals to promote and preserve a therapeutic environment for individual clients.

Participate in dev! eloping internal policies and programs concerning service structure and operations.

Contribute toward developing and coordinating internal review systems and program development processes.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship

English language proficiency (written and spoken)

Physical standards - All applicants must meet the physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to employment may be required.

Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.

Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Associ! ation (APA)

AND

Have successfully completed a profess! ional psychology intern training program that has been accredited by APA.

At least two (2) additional years of postdoctoral experience appropriate to the specialty area of the position.

In addition, must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, advanced professional psychological theories and techniques to the full range of patient populations.

2. Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.

3. Knowledge of clinical research literature.
