Program Coordinator

The Center for Human Development/UAA has a federal mandate to provide model demonstration activities, community training and technical assistance and applied research in the behavior! al health, disability, and aging fields. These activities are externally funded.
This is a lead/coordination position to provide training and support for participants of the Partners in Policymaking (PiP)Project funded by the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority. This position will provide training to individuals with disabilities, family members, and other Trust beneficiaries on advocacy, leadership, and systems change efforts.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.
? Knowledge of the disability service delivery system, parent and the self-advocacy movements and Medicaid Home and Community based Waiver system.
? Skill in curriculum development
? Skill in conducting training in the field of disabilities.
? Ability to work with policy makers, service recipients, family members, and providers to facilitate the
? connections between both groups.
? Knowledge of best practices in person centered care, positive b! ehavioral support, supported living.
Knowledge of disabili! ties related to aging and of developmental and cognitive disabilities.
? Ability to manage multiple, complex projects.
? Ability to communicate effectively with the public and stakeholders.
? Demonstrated written communication skills.
? Ability to provide and/or facilitate training.
? Ability to supervise and/or lead.
Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).
Bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice, or related field or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Preference for Master's degree in nursing, social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice, or related field.
Length of time and type of experience required for this position.
Three years working in the field of disability with experience as an education coordinator and/or staff development coordinator. Experience in managing complex projects. Abi! lity to train others.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities for this position.
Training or experience in self-advocacy, person centered care, leadership training required. Additional training or experience in staff development, positive behavioral supports preferred.

Records
Duty:
Conduct on-site and distance-delivered training courses for service providers, people with disabilities, family members, and students. Duties include disseminating information, facilitating development of participant competencies and providing feedback on participant activities.
Collaborate with team members and provide direct consultative services in the planning and implementation ! of behavioral health and program services for individuals who experience complex behavioral needs.
Organize training events and courses including scheduling, advertising, promoting enrollment, arranging payment, and distributing preliminary material.
Collaborating in the design and revision of curricula for individuals with disabilities, their families, service providers in the field of disabilities, and students including the creation of media, outlines, activities, and course goals and objectives.
Represent CHD on the Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education, as requested.
Provide technical assistance in support of self-advocacy to service providers, people with disabilities, family members and students.
Organize the system of program evaluation and implement project data collection tools, including creation of surveys and assessments, interviews, & writing reports to advisory boards and funding agencies.
Assist in developing grant proposals for external funding.
! Plan and provide staff training of CHD or Americorp personnel in the diverse areas and strategies that contribute to self-advocacy; provide project team leadership in the development of project work plans, team and staff role assignments, and supervision, especially as it applies to self-advocacy services.
