Description: Alaska Regional Hospital is hiring Cardiac Rehab Diabetes RN - Days right now, this occupation will be placed in Alaska. The Nurse Educator is a registered nurse who acts as a case manager/educator for the Cardiac Rehab, and the Diabetes Education programs and is responsible for patient assessments in! all programs. This RN provides the best possible preventive, rehabilitative, supportive, and emergency care to each patient based on the nursing and wellness processes and in accordance with department and hospital policies and procedures, and in keeping with AADE, ADA, AACVPR, ACSM, and Joint Commission best practices guidelines. This RN supervises exercise sessions, is responsible for inpatient and outpatient education -1:1 and group, as well as community presentations; develops and updates educational materials, tracks patient outcomes, schedules patients, monitors and assists in age-appropriateness and effectiveness of treatment plan and provides progress notes to physicians. Has and maintains current knowledge and/or experience in Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Oncology, Health Education, Nutrition, Exercise; Emergency procedures; Pharmaceuticals, Psych-Soc issues, and Medical/Educational strategies for risk factor and disease management. Clerical duties such as ma! intaining orders, reports, charts, scheduling, etc are also in! cluded in this job description. This RN uses the Ethics Committee to address ethical issues in patient care. Functions as a role model and mentor to patients. Participates in and has an understanding of the department PI projects and housewide Quality improvement programs. Communicates quality improvement ideas based on project results or as other issues arise. Participates in hospital committees, special events, and community events, health fairs, and activities.
Qualifications
LICENSE REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse – State of
Alaska
CERTIFICATIONS:
BLS and ACLS Required; CDE (Cardiac Diabetes Educator) Preferred
EDUCATION:
2 year/Associate Degree
EXPERIENCE:
3 years nursing preferably with cardiac
patients or CCU
1 year in cardiac rehab preferred
