This is a per diem position, at our Fairbanks, AK health center. Women's health care experience preferred; EMR experience prefer! red; Current CPR card and Alaska ARNP, CNM or PA-C -WA license required
Major Responsibilities/Scope of Practice :
Provides confidential health care by examining and screening female patients for signs, symptoms and abnormalities suggestive of breast disease, diseases common to the female reproductive system, pregnancy, and some specified non-gynecological conditions. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats STDs in male and female patients.
Reviews patient medical histories, performs physical examinations including ultrasound exams, and records findings using appropriate procedures, techniques and terminology.
Provides follow-up examinations and consultations for all surgical services. Triages related complications and consults appropriately; refers patient for additional services as needed.
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standard; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recomm! ending necessary adjustments; following agencyâs philosophie! s and standards of care set by state board of nursing, and other governing agency regulations, and works with Health Center Managers in the maintenance of clinic-based quality programs.
Consults appropriately with the DHS/Assistant DHS or Medical Director regarding any care outside of PPGNW scope of practice. Makes appropriate referrals to community health care providers for conditions beyond the scope of care provided by PPGNW clinics.
Evaluates patients for the contraceptive services offered within Planned Parenthood protocols and provides those services as medically indicated.
Identifies clinical emergencies and institutes appropriate measures.
Responsible for level I, acute condition follow up within 48 hours, as per protocol. Review, date, and sign off monthly on level II, abnormal follow up file, as per protocol.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with universal precaut8ions, WISHA, CLIA, PPFA, and PP! GNW policies and procedures.
Performs appropriate laboratory testing including, but not limited to, vaginal wet mounts, and microscopic examination of urine sediment.
Serves as a preceptor for medical school residents, ARNP and RN students, and new ARNP graduates.
Serves as a delegator for HCA certified staff.
Working with clinic staff, educates patients as appropriate on family planning, STDs and other health-related issues.
Facilitates clinic flow by problem solving with Health Center Manager and Team Leaders.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among the health care team by communicating information; responding to request; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods; serving as the clinical expert and resource in the clinics.
Participates in agency research projects as they affect medical functions.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops! ; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; ! participating in professional societies.
