About the eICU
The concept is simple: Cameras, microphones, and high-speed computer data lines come together in a central location to monitor patients in virtually any number of ICU rooms at remote hospitals. The centralized monitoring location is staffed 24/7 by intensivists and experienced ICU nurses, who are on hand to help the floor staff ensure the highest possible patient care. Join an elite team of healthcare professionals working with an advanced technology tool (eICU) that increases patient safety and satisfaction within Providence Health and Services, Alaska. The eICU launched successfully in February 2009. Our eICU is a centralized, intensivist-led care team that uses enabling technology to continuously monitor, assess and intervene in support of the on-site caregivers. Nurses utilize the latest technology by entering and analyzing pertinent patient data, evaluating alerts and trends, communicating alerts to bedside care givers, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
