Responsible for planning and coordinating patient care activities on assigned unit as delegated by Nurse Manager. Coordinates bed control on the unit,! serves as the point of contact for physicians, ancillary departments, patients, visitors and staff. Performs duties independently, exercising professional judgment in determining the need for, and type of, special action involving patient care and/or personnel on their assigned shift. Position also includes direct patient care procedures for patients of all ages which requires professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatment. Participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other members of the healthcare team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Guidelines include physician's orders, standards of care, nursing policies and procedures, manuals, and hospital policies.

BASELINE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor's degree in nursing, Associate degree i! n nursing or Diploma in nursing). Bachelor's Degree preferred.!
  • Commission Corp Officers meet billet description requirements for “Clinical Nurse Specialist”.
  • 4 years professional nursing experience with minimum 1 year in assigned specialty.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • A valid, current, full and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska.
  • Will be required to attend SEARHC Quality Management orientation within 1 year of hire.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP, as required by individual unit. Must be obtained within six months of hire and biannually thereafter
