This position works closely with healthcare providers giving support in procedures and exams. It will be the sole responsibility of the RN to conduct annual well visits, administer IV's, and provide wound care for patients. QUALIFICATIONS: (Consideration may be given for equivalent knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska.5 years experience in nursing.Experience with Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records.CPR certification required, or within three months of hire.Experience working with or living among Native Americans preferred.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide training and leadership to medical assistants regarding basic medical and clericalprocedures before and after examination including taking of vital signs, medical history update, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, recording of EKG's, dressing changes, medication administration and dispensing, immunization administration, sched! uling patient appointments and procedures, faxing prescriptions, and documentation of care in health record.Facilitate a team huddle each morning with medical assistants.Serve as the immunization coordinator, insuring the clinic adheres to all federal and state mandated guidelines, using good judgment and answering any immunization related questions for staff and patients. Conduct annual well visits, screening for health risk factors and charting in EHR as required. Work with staff to make referrals for patients needing specialized care as a result of the annual well visit.Performs basic Health Coaching and patient education as directed by the provider and available evidence-based guidelines.Administer IV's as prescribed by providers.Obtain training and perform wound vac's for patients as needed.Obtain certification and perform foot care for patients as needed.Utilizes motivational interviewing skills to develop goals and plans for behavior change.Attend staff meetings for ! information sharing, continuing education activities, and participate i! n continuous improvement efforts as required.Assign nurse schedule, lunch schedule, and cross cover duties with medical assistants.Assign and oversee additional tasks including ordering clinical supplies, ortho supplies, CPR classes, VAC Trac, and oxygen tanks.Performs other duties as assigned.
