POSITION SUMMARY The Clinical Operations Manager(CM) RN is accountable for leading the Operating Rooms with 17 ORs including a hybrid OR, robotic! s, and open heart surgery] and Endoscopy patient care areas, services, and programs that contribute to safe, timely, effective, efficient and equitable patient and family centered care. Working within the strategic direction of Providence Health & Services (PH&S) and in collaboration with the Director Surgical Services, Chief Nurse Executive, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Exectuve Office, the CM provides leadership, team focus, and direction in achieving excellence in patient care and operations within the organization. The Clinical Manager RN is responsible for the day to day clinical and operational aspects of the Operating Room and the Endoscopy Unit. Achieving and nurturing a Magnet Culture is a priority. In this position the OR Manager will have around 60 employees reporting to them. $10K sign on bonus and up to a $20K relocation bonus. Three years of recent management or supervisory experience in Surgical Services required; preferably in the Operating Room. Two yea! rs of management experience in like sized unit preferred. Grad! uate of an accrediated/approved school of nursing. Must have either a Bachelors or Masters degree in nursing. Masters degree preferred. Utilizes staffing management principles to assure adequate supply of all necessary staff to perform patient care. Plans for seasonal fluctuations and anticipates market changes which may impact volumes. Assures patient care is delivered in compliance to standards utilizing cost-effective methods. Explores options for expanding services and providing different services. Assists in development of the Surgical Services Strategic Plan and annual operating budget, involving staff and physicians, ! as appropriate. Develops, implements, evaluates and modifies programs a! nd services need to meet patient care and staff development needs. Exercises independent judgement to implement plans for operations in areas of responsibility. Demonstrates stewardship for financial resources. LEADERSHIP: Provides visionary leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Uses leadership principles to anticipate and influence change. Determines resources and actions needed, and advocates for these resources to accomplish objectives. Set priorities and manages time effectively. Identifies potential problems/opportunities and plans contingent action. Develops new and unique ideas to improve existing systems or operations, when new organizational approaches are needed. Collaborates with the medical director, CNE, Director, other clinical mangers, patient care staff and informal leaders in these efforts. Encourages, supports, and advances innovative efforts in others. Seeks creative methods to resolve conflicts. Promotes multi-disciplinary c! are of the patient. QUALITY OF PRACTICE: Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing services administration and the delivery of services. Able to provide clinical care and is a role model for staff in the clinical setting. Working collaboratively with the staff, providers, and leadership teams, develops, modifies and implements patient care standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Establishes clear clinical practice expectations based on professional standards for areas of responsibility. Working collaboratively with the staff, providers, and leadership team, develops and implements the unit-based QI plans, incorporating appropriate aspects of the PHSA quality strategic plan. Indicators are identified and improvement processes utilize PDCA structure. COLLABORATION: Collaborates with all levels of nursing staff, provi! ders, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholder! s. Assigns work and responsibly directs staff. Creates systems that enable staff to jointly plan and deliver care, providing them with the skills and knowledge so they can have authority over their practice. Role models collaboration and partnership with physicians, primary staff, patients, families and other departments. Schedules regular meetings with direct report staff to provide supervision, assure communication and to monitor facility operations; utilizes various methods to communicate with staff. Reviews or conducts, and documents annual performance evaluations on each direct report staff. Collaborates with staff, physicians and all appropriate departments to promote optimal patient care and customer service. Models and mentors Providence Health and Services Standards of Service Excellence. COMPLIANCE: Directs and administers assigned functions to ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services which meet or surpass accreditation standards. Maintains and guides ! the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, federal and other regulatory guidelines. Assures adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys. EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE EVALUATION: Maintains and uses leadership, managerial, organizational and technical knowledge of areas of responsibility.
