Job Posting Summary
As a partner in shaping health care of Alaska, the University of Alaska Anchorage School of Nursing (SON) educates students for current and future roles in local, state, national, and worldwide arenas, as well as for productive citizenship, personal growth, and professional nursing practice. The SON offers undergraduate students two options: the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in nursing and Bachelor of Science (BS) in nursing science, with the AAS program delivered via distance to sites throughout the state. The SON also offers graduate studies in several specialty tracks: Family Nurse! Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Family and Nurse Educator. UAA School of Nursing seeks innovative, energetic academic professionals to contribute to our nursing education programs that address various health care challenges within Alaska. Faculty responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction in classrooms and via distance education modalities. Teaching assignment will include coursework related to Family Nurse Practitioner track. Faculty duties include work to plan, implement and evaluate nursing degree curriculum, participate in university and community service activities, satisfy committee appointments, and engage in professional activities. Scholarship is included in the work expectations of doctorally prepare faculty. UAA faculty positions may be represented by a union collective bargaining agreement.

Typical education or training required for this position (including licenses).
Must hold at least one post-baccalaureate degree in nursing with preparation as an advanced family nurse practitioner. Doctorate is required. Clinical experience in advanced family practice is required. Must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska. Must be authorized as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in State of Alaska.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively as a teacher. Experience with curriculum development is necessary, particularly given the opportunity for ongoing and progressive distance education course development. Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively within a diverse environment. Ability to anticipate change and implement initiatives to meet the challenges of delivering healthcare education in Alask! a.
