We are seeking a ninth BC/BE neonatologist to join our team of physicians and nurse practitioners at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. In 2010 the NICU received the John M Eisenberg Award fr! om The National Quality Forum and The Joint Commission for innovation in patient safety and quality. A private room 66-bed Level-IIIB NICU will be completed this year. The NICU has an average daily census of 40-45, about 570 admissions annually, and a certified, NNP staffed neonatal transport program. The NICU serves as the regional referral center for the state of Alaska including the Alaska Native and U.S. military populations.
The goal of the unit is to provide state of the art compassionate care while being sensitive to the individual family needs as well as the developmental needs of the baby. Working as an interdisciplinary team with perinatology and full pediatric subspecialty support, the NICUâs efforts have received national recognition for âfamily-centered careâ. The unit provides most specialized services for newborn critical care including pediatric surgery, high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide. In addition to teaching opportunities the pr! actice is actively involved in quality initiatives, clinical r! esearch, and outreach education. The NICU is an active participant in the Vermont Oxford Quality Collaborative.
