JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is an Ope! rating Room Nurse, seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Circul! ating Nurse. Experience with minimal invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, spines, urology, endoscopy cases preferred. With CNOR certification recommended or willingness to obtain within one year of employment. The ideal candidate would have one (1) year of OR experience within the last three (3) years. PACU experience or willingness to learn PACU required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required

• Ability to use accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to explain procedures and requirements to the public and employees
• Ability to critically think and analyze and communicate findings
• Ability to work independently and perform assignments with minimal direction
• Ability to operate a variety of automated office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, calculators, fax machine, multi-line telephone systems! , etc.

Minimum requirements (the following are minimal qualification necessary for entry into this classification)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from accredited Nursing Program. Completes annual educational requirements.

License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse licensure (must meet education requirement(s) for Alaska State licensure).

Certification(s): Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.

Experience(s): Successful applicant will show demonstrated success in critical thinking skills.

Clinical Nurse RN II: Advancement from CN RN I or a minimum of one (1) year continuous recent experience in a comparable patient care setting. Clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of one (1) float area r! equired within one year of attaining CN RN II status.

Clini! cal Nurse RN III: Advancement from CN RN II or a minimum of 3 years current acute care experience 2 of which are in primary unit specialty. Clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of one (1) float area required within one year of hire.

Physical: Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. Wears identification while on duty. Complies with state and federal laws for employee health requirements, such as TB testing and other requirements (see Employee Health Policy for specific requirements).
