Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. The position requires one year cooking experience preferably in a healthcare setting. Other cooking experience will be considered. Successful completion of a cook's training program (not a class) is also acceptable. Ability to read and follow recipes is necessary. Some basic math is also necessary. Must be able to take instructions and follow through on instructions.
Essential Functions:
Prepares all food items on menu according to standardized recipes.
Follows all the safety and sanitation policy and procedures. This includes completing cleaning assignments as scheduled, cleaning equipment and following all safety rules to protect self, other employees, patients and guests. Follow all sanitation policy and procedures for food storage, preparation, services.
Responsible for preparation of patient trays and for checking all items on each patient tray to assure all items meet diet prescribed and i! ndividual patient needs as directed by the dietitian.
! Responsible for the proper use and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
Responsible for working with other staff on planning food production for the current day and the following days.
Will cover for the Food Service Worker and/or the Utility/Stock Worker job assignments when positions are not staffed.
Take telephone requests for late patient trays.
Responsible for reporting all equipment problems to Food Service Supervisor or the Nutrition Care Director.
Required to attend department and facility in-service training as scheduled.
Responsible for following all hospital and department policies and procedures.
Reports all accidents to the Food Service Supervisor or Nursing if supervisor is not on duty.
Responsible for following all hospital and department policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
