JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is for an experienced, e! nthusiastic Clinical Nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required
- Ability to use accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to explain procedures and requirements to the public and employees
- Ability to critically think and analyze and communicate findings
- Ability to work independently and perform assignments with minimal direction
- Ability to operate a variety of automated office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, calculators, fax machine, multi-line telephone systems, etc.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from accredited Nursing Program. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Completes annual educational requirements.
License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered N! urse licensure (must meet education requirement(s) for Alaska State licensure).
Certification(s): Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
Experience(s): A minimum of 1 year experience within the last 3 years is preferred. Participates in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
Clinical Nurse RN II: Advancement from CN RN I or a minimum of one (1) year continuous recent experience in a comparable patient care setting. Clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of one (1) float area required within one year of attaining CN RN II status.
Clinical Nurse RN III: Advancement from CN RN II or a minimum of 3 years current acute care experience 2 of which are in primary unit specialty. Clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of one (1) float area required within one year of hire. Proven compet! ency in specialty area. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of ! the facility.
Physical: Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. Wears identification while on duty. Complies with state and federal laws for employee health requirements, such as TB testing and other requirements (see Employee Health Policy for specific requirements). For specific physical demands of position, including vision, hearing, repetitive motion environment, see attached Description of Physical Demands.
