Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Certification of EMT III
Graduation from a Practical Nursing Program or Equivalent
Graduation from a Registered Nursing Program or Equivalent
Experience
One year recent experience in a health care setting . Current Alaska RN or LPN license preferred. Current certification in BLS. Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required.
Essential Functions :
Prepares patient for clinical visit to include screening intake, health history, electronic recording of patient data, and clinical procedures within scope of practice.
Identifies and immediately reports abnormal vital signs and/or findings to provider.
Performs CLIA waived lab tests and processes lab specimen according to protocol.
Performs patient follow-up and coordinates care (e.g. notifying patients of results and subsequent plan of care, sets up and tracks patient referrals, obtains prior authorizations, completes patient forms/documents for provider review, etc.) including emergency room and hospitalization according to clinic protocol.
Completes and submits program paperwork (e.g. BCHC, Pharmaceutical Assistance) accurately for appropriate patient populations.
Initiates and maintains a tracking system and enters recalls for specified patient populations utilizing the center’s electronic data system.
Performs patient referral (walk-ins and telephone). Directs walk-in patients to appropriate level of care, to include response to emergent situations within scope of practice.
Performs laboratory and medication quality control measures according to protocol.
Provides and documents patient education including rationale for medication administration, medication side effects, explanation of medications and procedures, prescription usage and directions, test results, disease prevention and education on lifestyle changes.
Orders, receives and inventories medical supplies, vaccines and pharmaceuticals (to include samples) according to protocol.
Maintains clinic areas to inclu de exam rooms, procedure room, medication room and medical supply areas according to OSHA standards.
Performs instrument cleaning, packaging and sterilization according to protocol.
Operates and maintains center’s medical equipment according to manufacture instructions and clinic protocol.
Integrates work with other staff to ensure timely and accurate patient flow.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Participates in meetings.
Complies with Center’s policies and procedures.
Utilizes personal computer, specialized office and medical equipment according to protocol.
Performs other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager.
Position is based in the City of Healy; however, position responsibilities may require travel both within the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) and Denali Borough. Position may require working occasional evenings and weekends.
